Horten Ho 229 Cobi Building Blocks World War II 5757

The Horten Ho 229 was one of the most extraordinary aircraft of the Second World War. Designed in 1:32 scale, the kit matches the size of other aircraft published in the World War II Historical Collection. The flying wing has a span of 52.5 cm and consists of 1,080 elements. Especially for this kit, we have designed new blocks that perfectly mimic the distinctive nose of the aircraft along with the pilots cabin and engine air intakes. The model has access to a cockpit with detailed prints. The cockpit also contains a figure depicting a test pilot in a distinctive flight suit. The pilot has two sets of headgear: a yellow pilot cap and a cap with brand new prints! The model also has a retractable landing gear. The blocks have high quality printing with aircraft markings and details. The bottom blocks are done in a new light blue color and also have several prints with decals.

The Horten Ho 229, also known as the Gotha Go 229, was a German experimental jet-powered aircraft of World War II. Classified as the Wunderwaffe (German: Wonder Weapon), it was to be one of the projects to help turn the tide of the war against Germany. With its performance, the Horten tried to meet the requirements of the Luftwaffes competition for the construction of an America Bomber that would be able to hit targets in the United States. This extraordinary aircraft is the result of the brothers Hortens, Walter and Reimar, who were not engineers, but aviation enthusiasts with extremely bold ideas. They specialized in the development of flying wing aircraft. The prototype was originally designated Horten H IX. The aircraft was equipped with two Junkers Jumo 004B turbojet engines. The design of the aircraft was extremely innovative. The wings were bifurcated and the fuselage was made of wood and composite materials, which reduced radar reflection. Some sources claim that the Horten Ho 229 was the first stealth aircraft in history. Research conducted after the war confirmed the reduction in radar reflectivity, but it was not sufficient to consider this aircraft undetectable to radar. The Ho 229 prototype was built and flown numerous times. The end of the war in 1945 interrupted work on this fantastic project. The Horten Ho 229 undoubtedly influenced the development of post-war jet aircraft in Europe and America. The Horten brothers design is still shrouded in an aura of mystery, exciting with its timelessness and modernity and igniting the imagination of lovers of history, military technology and aviation!
