This is a special yellowish fluid called colostrum, which cannot be consumed by humans. It contains many antibodies that help the calf resist diseases. After about five days, the calf has received enough colostrum and will then drink regular cows milk for approximately ten months, until it can sustain itself solely on grass and other plants.
